Removed the flyout menu and relocated all the settings and commands to a new area below the OK and Cancel buttons. This makes them easier to find and quicker to access, although we do sacrifice a bit of horizontal space. I think the increase in discoverability and ease of use is worth it, plus it's more consistent with other Photoshop plug-in dialogs.
The contextual help area has been redesigned to make it easier to notice. I added a question mark icon to the beginning of the text and set the field in a rounded group box to accentuate it. We could also add a tool tip to explain its function.
Added an icon of the currently active tool to the front of the tool properties area. This is similar to Photoshop's "Options" bar and helps visually connect each tool with its properties, especially for tools that are lower on the tool bar.
Made some minor tweaks to the Edit Plane and Create Plane tool icons. Each each icon now has a grid component which should reinforce that both tools are used on plane objects exclusively (this was not clear in the previous design).
Added an option to turn the grid display on and off. This will let users see a clear preview of their changes before committing them.
Added the name of the current PSD document and layer to the title of the VP dialog. This gives users some context of what they're editing back in the PSD, which is often obscured by the large size of the VP dialog.
Interactivity in the SWF file:
Click each of the tool buttons to see different tool properties and contextual help displays.
Roll over the " ? " icon in the contextual help field for a tool tip example.
